CA - Homestead exemption extended to disaster victims
Pursuant to previously reported 2007 legislation, homeowners' exemptions from California
property taxes were extended to homes that were damaged or destroyed in four disasters
in 2006 and 2007 for which the governor declared a state of emergency. One disaster
involved a freeze in 18 counties, and the other disasters involved wildfires in
a total of four counties.
